Hype Her Hoops : Battle For The Bling Recap

Anaheim, California Is where the Battle for the Bling took place. Girls teams from grades 4th – 11th went at it to see who would bring home the “BLING”. This tournament saw great competition from each grade level and all of the championship games went down to the wire.

Here’s a recap of what happened in each division’s championship games.

GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL DIVISION

Cal Storm 14U Elite 58 – Team G 57

The Cal Storm 14U Elite team played up in this event in preparation for their run at the Made Hoops 14U Division title this coming weekend in Las Vegas. Team G gave them all that they could handle in the Championship Game, and had a two possession lead with about a minute to go, but just like in previous tournaments Cal Storm prevailed and made plays when it mattered the most. This is Cal Storm 14U Elite’s 3rd Hype Her hoops tournament championship in as many tries.

8TH GRADE GOLD

Nexgen Rebels 48 – West Coast Premier GBL Grey 42

Nexgen Rebels saw a 20 point halftime lead evaporate quickly in the 2nd half as WCP made a furious comeback to tie the game up. But at the end Nexgen Rebels were just too strong as they pulled away with a 6 point victory.

8TH GRADE SILVER

Cal Sparks South 45 – Heat Check 27

Cal Sparks South came back and won the the Grade Silver Division in dominating fashion after dropping a pool play game by 1 point. They went on to win the next 3 games including the championship by double figures.

8TH GRADE BRONZE

City Hoops 30 – Wolfpack 28

In a closely contested championship game the girls from City Hoops escaped with a two point victory. City Hoops went 4-0 during the tournament.

7TH GRADE GOLD

Northstars Blue 36 – West Coast GBL Premier 35

The NorthStars Blue won the 7th grade Gold division by going an impressive 5-0 in a very tough bracket. The NorthStars defeated West Coast GBL Premier twice in the tournament, and the 2nd time was in the championship game by 1 point in a great competitive game.

7TH GRADE SILVER/BRONZE

Run Jump N Hoop 36 – DOXA 30

Run Jump N Hoop outlasted DOXA in the &th grade Silver/Bronze division. Run Jump N Hoop went undefeated in this division.

6TH GRADE 

Sports Academy 31 – Her-I-Can Mambas 17

Sports Academy dominated the 6th grade division by going undefeated and winning all of their games by double digits including the championship game over the Her-I-Can Mambas 31-17.

5TH GRADE SILVER/GOLD

City Hoops 25 – Brea Ballers 20

In the 5th grade silver/gold division City Hoops came away with a 25-20 victory over the Brea Ballers. That was the second time City Hoops beat the Brea Ballers in the tournament. Earlier in pool play City Hoops came away with a 2 point victory.

5TH GRADE BRONZE

Cal Storm 11U 29 – OGP Ladera 24

Cal Storm 11U went 5-0 in the 5th grade bronze division and ended up outlasting a tough OGP Ladera squad in the championship game. Cal Storm 11U has improved every event.

4TH GRADE 

Run Jump N Hoop 31 – OCR Jr. Mints 17

Run Jump N Hoop brought home the 4th grade division championship by going 4-0. Run Jump N Hoop played stifling defense throughout the tournament.
