OC basketball gleams at the Battle for the Bling

Battle of the Bling was a remarkable event, with teams shining through their skill set all day long at OGP Ladera. This Orange County Club basketball tournament had talent from  all across the state of California and some out of state teams as well such as Arizona Reach basketball. The tournament provided nail biters, and crazy comebacks with elite talent everywhere. The best part is that competition is not over as we have the Spring Fling in NorCal and SoCal coming up!

The Battle of the Bling’s energy is reflective of the Hype Her Hoops experience in youth girls basketball, including Scouting Report highlights throughout the weekend highlighting top players and their performances. 4th/5th grade

Brea Ballers were definitely balling out at the event, as they couldn’t be stopped and went undefeated to become Champions. The ballers were firing on all cylinders for their success with great scoring ability and stealing the ball efficiently, and the cherry on top was to drop a couple three pointers along the way.

5th Grade

Primo Lady Soldiers battled hard and fiercely as they would go on conquering the competition and become undefeated champions. The team’s ability to get rebounds for second chance points, and finding their open teammate for the assist.

6th Grade Bronze

Working On Everything(WOE) had a great performance at the event going a solid 3-1 competing to the last second in the close games to become champions. The team could not miss on the floor as they were pouring it in the paint and were able to hold them on defense due to their blocking ability.

6th grade

GBL squad was automatic on offense using their formula of just simply outsourcing their opponents, and that simplicity made them champions. A star that stood out was Kobi Evans who scored double digit points in all of their wins and led the charge for her team.

7th Grade

Cal Stars Elite truly played like stars as they were scoring on an elite level and just couldn’t be stopped. The star who had a bright shine was Sawyer Fogel as she had three double doubles at the tournament which helped propel her team to victory.

8th Grade Bronze

Reach Basketball was reaching new heights as they went undefeated in the tournament playing hard on both sides of the ball to be crowned champions. Romaya Farrington had an incredible championship game as she dropped 29 points and 12 rebounds, just killing from beyond the arc.

8th Grade Silver

Cal Storm Gray took control of the tournament as they progressed towards the top, with their scoring ability, rebound ability, and defense which led them to be champions. The key to their success was their communication and their ability to work and flow as a team, for opportunities to score. 

8th Grade

Gold Cal Stars EYBL had a clean sweep in the tournament as they went undefeated and steam rolled through the competition and became champions. Two players that were pivotal to their success Niylah Christopher and Aynya Hardy both who were able to score double digit points in multiple games helping their team move on in the tournament. 

High School

We R 1 Are champions as they fought hard through the competition and made shots when they needed them most. These wins were not given but earned as they were locked in til the last busser to go off keeping a championship mentality.
