2023 Hype Her Hoops: Spring Live Recap

Hype Her Hoops hosted their first-ever girls live event: Spring Live and was a leading event for Orange County youth basketball tournaments. This event set the stage for an unprecedented showcase of talent and excitement. The presence of esteemed colleges such as CSUSB, Westcliff University, CSULA, Pomona Pitzer College, and more showed the significance of this event as it provides a platform for scouting and recruiting promising young players. Players at the event showed off their skills and sportsmanship acquired through participation in our local Orange County basketball leagues. The upcoming HHH live events are the West Coast Clash (July 7-10) and The Big Dance (July 21-24), promising to provide a strong impact that will further elevate girls’ basketball with great teams, players, and college coaches. 

  • The 17U Gold division was exciting to watch all weekend long as Boise Slam, Triple Threat, and CBC all finished 4-0.  Addy Laible, Averee Osterhout, Logan Sailors started and finished the weekend strong as this trio led Boise Slam to a dominant weekend. Delaney White was honored All-tournament for her Triple Threat squad due to her having phenomenal performances and tremendous numbers on the weekend. Maddy Tauro was a force to reckon with this weekend for CBC as she averaged 17.25 PPG and 7.25 RPG in four games. 
  • In the 17U Silver division Home Court Edge was the team to beat but they had other plans and finished 4-0 on the weekend led by Symantha Barnett who averaged 16.25 PPG and 4.5 RPG. SB Pro Skills first loss came on the first game of the event but they bounced back by winning three in a row and Lauren Robles helped her team by knocking down the three ball. She hit a total of 20 threes on the weekend in four games which was fun to watch. 
  • 16U Prodigy Athletic and Balboa Hills National Red both went 4-0 at the Hype Her Hoops Event. Prodigy was led by Dani Robinson who is a 5 ‘9 Combo Guard and only in the 8th grade. She finished the weekend with an impressive 17.3 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 4.8 SPG. She picked teams apart and could not be stopped all weekend long. Balboa Hills Red was led by 5 ’10 8th Grader Reena White who finished with 15 PPG, 5.3 RPG, and 4 3s per game. 
  • The 15U Home Court Edge team went 4-0 on the weekend due to their unbeatable duo that provided excitement and exhilaration on the court. Leah Sasaki, the 5’3″ guard, brought an unstoppable energy to the Hype Her Hoops event. With an incredible average of 22 points per game, including an astonishing 4.75 three-pointers per game. Regan Enright, the 5’5″ eighth-grader, showcased her relentless drive and versatility, captivating audiences with her phenomenal all-around game. Averaging 18.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and an astounding 4 steals per game, she left the gym with a lot to be proud of.  
  • 6th She’s Empowered Sports wins… again! The dynamic duo of Lucy Longhurst and Jordan Janae Brown is hard to stop as you can tell they have been consistently weekend after weekend. From start to finish they are constantly competing to not only win games but to dominate. Longhurst earned MVP and Brown earned All-Tournament this weekend at the Hype Her Hoops event. 
  • 7th Northstars top WCE and She’s Empowered Sports as they go undefeated on the weekend. The tough duo of MVP Kayla Watanabe and Jenna Lee showcased their dominance as they were hard to stop all weekend long. Kayla Watanabe averaged 11.4 PPG, 4.6 RPG, and 2.4 SPG and her partner Jenna Lee averaged 10.8 PPG, 4.4 RPG, and 2 SPG
  • 8th Grade MVP Jada Ahmad led her squad SB Proskills to a 5-0 weekend at the Hype Her Hoops event. Ahmad came out of the gates hot as she put up a double double in her first game of the event, an impressive 17 Points and 11 Reb got it done against Watts Skills Academy. Another noticeable name who earned All-Tournament was Kyoko Beasly who did her best to try and get her Storm Nike NV team some wins but she finished with 12.5 PPG and 6 RPG and two tough losses against two very good teams in Cal Storm Nike and SB Proskills
